Crossed the Line

Recently Burger King was giving out Spongebob "Lost in Time" figurines with their Kids Meals. So naturally my new favoritve place to visit was BK, and I must say I went well out of my way sometimes searching for BK's to go buy these toys at. It was hilarious, at first, I didn't even bother pretending to be interested in their food, I simply went up to the counter and asked if I could buy their Spongebob Toys. The best is when they would ask "Which one/how many?" and my reply was, "as many/which ever you have." Eventually I started buying fries or a soda, and was doing a pretty good job colllecting. I reached 9/20 figurines, and then about 1 week ago, mom and I stopped at a BK, and when I went inside to buy more, I discovered that they stopped that promotion, and now had Ice Age toys. :o(

You can only imagine my dissapointment, I wanted all 20! These toys are actually very cool. So, what do you do when you want something that is no longer carried/provided.....eBay! I have never bought anything from eBay before. It always seemed a little suspicious and the whole "place your bid" thing seemed like a lot of effort. But I found several people that had the entire 20 figurine collection of Spongebob. I placed a bid on one, and it only had about 1 day left, and amazingly I won. I was so happy!! They have yet to arrive, when they do I'll be sure to take pictures and post them.

In relation to the title of this post, crossed the line, when I told Greg what I had done, his reaction was, "Oh God, you're one of those people now. You've crossed the line Triana. You'll be like those creepy men who wait outside of Target at 4am, because some new toys is coming out and they want to be the first to get it." I don't think I have reached that level of craziness....yet. But he says I am well on my way. ;-)

New Curtains

Winter is upon us, and mom wanted us to pick out some thicker curtains to keep our rooms warmer. I was going to pick a normal color that matched my bed, like a dark green (which is what I have now) or a wine color. As we were in the fabric store we walked over to the more "animated" prints, just for fun, and there it was, hiding behind another fabric, was a fleece, SpongeBob with him playing hockey on a bright baby-blue backround. I was so happy, that I had to have it. I usually don't get this crazy, putting up a huge, printed Spongey item- but who cares! I certainly don't. My room has become to Spongey to be considered mature, so why get "mature" curtains.

We put it up a few days later, wow- definitly does something to the room. I like it, Greg on the other hand, gets a headache from it. Too much blue he says. Oh well, he will have to deal with it. :) I thought he would like the fact that Spongebob is playing hockey. I took some pics, hope you all enjoy them.

here is the awesome curtain.

This is my wall of Spongebob Posters.

This is my shrine. A bookshlef that is now overflowing with Spongey items. I need another shelf- anyone care to donate one?

This is harder to see- but I have a spongebob calendar, spongebob figurines on my TV, and other assorted Animated things.

Spongebob SquarePants Movie is OUT!!

Today I purchased the Spongebob Squarepants Movie. joy. Luckily I had a Borders giftcard (they are starting to give them to us as monthly bonuses if we do well for the previous month), so i used that to buy my movie, and we have a deal going on, when you buy 1 kids DVD, you get 25% off any other DVD. That's pretty good, so I decided to use that 25% on another Spongebob DVD- Spongebob Goes Prehistoric. It has good episodes on it. I still need to buy his other new dvd Home Sweet Pineapple and one called Summer Job (i think), and Season 2. I know, i know, what kind of fan am I that I don't already own all of these. My apologies. I'd love to watch my movie tonight but I got home late and it's already bedtime :( But tomorrow is my day off so I'll have a Sponge-Fest. yay.

Spongebob in the News

What an exciting day for Spongebob- my sister called and left a message saying that there is an article in the SF Chroncile about Mr. Squarepants. A Christian group called Focus on the Family is claiming that "Spongebob's creators had enlisted him in a 'pro-homosexual video' in which he appeared alongside other children's television characters like Barney and Jimmy Neutron." So, it sounded weird, like the whole video was these characters telling kids that homosexuality is okay- but it isn't. The video has all sorts of characters from the Muppets to the Little mermaid dancing around to the song "We are Family." The video is meant to teach kids about multiculturalism. I saw a snipit of the video on the evening news (Spongey made the evening news!!) and it was just all these different characters and actual people (adults and kids) of different ethnicities dancing and singing to "We are family." So, I don't see what all the fuss is about, I have been flipping chanels to try and catch the whole video, but so far, I find nothing offensive.

This is amusing on another note because my coworker Norman is always joking with me that Spongebob is coming out of the closet next season, or something. I admit that Spongebob does do stuff that may have people question his sexuaL identity, like holding Patricks hand, or the "Rock-a-bye bivalve" episode where Spongebob and Patrick adopt the baby scallop and Spongebob plays the "mom." I think it is a great episode, one of my favorites. But it doesn't matter, I would love Spongebob if he were straight or gay and I would let my kid watch his show either way. :) *sponge pride*

New DVD out!!

So as i was processing the new releases for Tuesday i came across a new Spongebob DVD!! It has the Krusty Krab Training episode on it, which I think is one of the best. I was to have every Borders employee watch it and learn. It also has a few episodes I haven't seen, so I will definitly be purchasing it soon. I still haven't bought Season 2...i have to watch my budget. Maybe I will put it on my xmas list.

Only 2 weeks until the Spongebob movie is out! I was told my my boyfriend's dad Brian, who is also a spongebob fan, that is was coming out on Nov. 12, but then I saw a TV preview and it said the 19th. I think the Nov 12 date was wishful thinking. Greg won't come see the movie with us...poo-head. I can't wait. I am going to be all decked out in my spongey clothes. I have t-shirts, sweaters, socks, pj pants (but i don't think i will wear them out)....it'll be awesome.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea...

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS! sing it with me! Welcome to my Spongebob Shrine Page, totally dedicated to Spongebob, his show, and all the other characters. I first discovered Spongebob during my first year at college, Chico State. I was in my dorm room with my boyfriend Greg, and he was flipping channels when suddenly, he came upon this cartoon with a cute, yellow sponge character. We began watching and it was the beginning of a love affair like no other. I am totally obsessed and in love with Spongebob. I began watching him everyday, I went online to the Nick website and wrote down the schedule for when his show was on and literally worked my eating schedule around his show, because I wanted to be in my room watching and recording as many espisodes as possible. It's been 3 years since then and I am still a huge fan of Spongey. Once I can borrow Greg's digicamera I will take pics of every Spongebob item I own, categorize and post them so you can all see my obsession.

This webpage will serve as an outlet for my Spongebob love, and will hopefully educate others about him and his amazing show. I encourage any other fans out there to post their thoughts on Spongebob- maybe we can start an online fan club. And as the release of his movie- The Spongebob Squarepants Movie- approaches I will be active in promoting and praising the almighty Sponge. See you all at the theaters!
